Deep Ocean Tsunami Detection Buoys

Deep Ocean Tsunami Detection Bouys are 1 type of strategies to confirm if a tsunami is approaching. They track the sea levels to assure that if there is a tsunami coming they can get people away from the ocean.

On the bottom of the bouy there is a anchor attatched to the bottom of the sea floor which has a pressure sensor. This sensor measures the water pressure above. The readings are then transmitted to the surface of the bouy and the make there way to the tsunami warning centre.

The bouy has 2 modes, standard and event. It is usually on standard and sends information via satellite every 15 minutes. Event mode is switched on when its readings detect a faster moving wave on the sea floor. After it detects that, it then sends the readings every 1 minute.

If you are interested in visiting any of the hotspots, there is most likely some sort of detection device so you ad others would be safe.
