When and Where
On July 9th in 1958, one of the tallest tsunamis hit SouthEast Alaska.
Damage
There was several incidents of of deaths and Earth changes including falling trees and swirling seas. Geologists were confused on what could have cause such an enormous tsunami.
Did you know that the tsunami is one of the largest ever recorded. It was measured to be 1720 feet tall!
How did it happen?
The tsunami itself was caused by an earthquake of 7.7 magnatatide which occured on the bay of Lituya. The earthquake caused a landslide which then produced a tsunami.
